Find Out More On... {August 27}

Each week, Jess Pickowicz, our resident curation genius, brings us the best of the blogosphere for Christian women. Here are Jess' top picks from last week, collected in one convenient post.

Watch Your Language!

This article from Michelle Lesley has us looking closely at some of the ways we misspeak as Christians. She lays out some sloppy words and phrases we use and then gives tips on how to make our language more God exulting and more theologically accurate. This is helpful.

Millennial Motherhood

Abigail Dodds hit the nail on the head with this article. I always love her clear and poignant writing. In this one, she discusses some traps millennial moms are prone to fall into. Here's what she says about our feelings, "Millennial moms could easily be the feeliest moms to date... Our children need more than a mom who empathizes and feels with them. They need more than a mom who gets down to their level to convey solidarity and trust — which we tend to be good at. They need to know they have a mom who, because she knows the whole story of God’s word, sees through them, beyond them, above them, and answers to someone other than them."

Be An Oasis Friend

I loved this article from Sheila Gosney of True Woman, Be An Oasis to Wives in Desert Marriages. All of her tips are spot on. I'm printing it out and sticking it in my ministry binder. (Yep, I have a binder for just about everything.) Please read this a few times, and then be that person. So many women are hurting in their marriages and they need supportive sisters in their lives.

God Made You a Writer

In this article, Dave  Mathis of Desiring God invites every Christian to consider how writing is a central element of our faith. "The Christian gospel has a way of making us all writers in some way, shape, or form. From text messages, emails, and written notes, to church newsletters, missionary support letters, blogs, articles, and even books, everyday Christians do a lot of writing — and chances are you do too."

Interview with Jen Wilkin

For the Church Podcast, Episode 012: Jen Wilkin "In episode 12 of the FTC Podcast, Jared Wilson and author and teacher Jen Wilkin discuss the dynamics of community groups, discerning a teaching gift, why the prosperity gospel sells, the differences between men's and women's 'learning styles,' and why women's ministries are often so cheesy."
